The Company was started in September 1982 when Bill Stevens joined the already established partnership of Ivan van Graan & Billy Sterrenberg who were operating Whip Engineering Enterprises.The Company rapidly grew to be one of the leaders in the Sprinkler Fire Protection Industry in the Western Cape and in the early days successfully completed six contracts at the Rossing Uranium Mine In Namibia.

At the end of 1995 Bill Stevens decided to escape from the "rat race" of the Construction World and took up a position with The Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau as their local inspector, a position, which he held until January 2001 putting his intimate knowledge of the sprinkler industry to use in ensuring that all the contractors meet the high standards, which he set for himself when he was a director of this company.

On Bill Stevens’ departure, Ivan & Billy continued with the business and have maintained the high standard of design & workmanship.In November 1997 for logistical and practical reasons, the company was restructured and changed the name to Whip Fire cc.

Whip Fire cc has been awarded SUPERVISING INSTALLER status by ASIB. This is due to the high standard of design, interpretation of the rules and installation work as quoted by Mr. John Goring of ASIB.

The Company is registered with and subscribes to the following organisations:

• Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau of South Africa
• Fire Protection Association of South Africa
• NFPA of America

MISSION STATEMENT

To design, install and maintain fire protection installations in accordance with the requirements of internationally recognised standards and criteria, to maintain the highest possible standard of workmanship.
